Foster Care and Adoption Ministry at Generation Church

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress. – James 1:27

Change the world by changing the life of a child.

Following the Bible’s command to care for the fatherless, Generation Church’s Chosen ministry exists to equip families to show the love of Jesus to children and teens in need of foster care and adoption in Arizona.

Generation Church also provides support to foster group homes in partnership with OCJ Kids, a nonprofit serving foster and at-risk children.

Chosen Christmas Drive

Did you know there are 14,000 children in Foster Care in Arizona? 80 children are removed from their homes weekly in Maricopa County alone. GC’s Chosen Ministry exists to make a difference in these kids’ lives.

We have an incredible opportunity this Christmas to make a huge impact. You can be part of our Chosen Christmas Drive! We’ll be providing Christmas for foster kids in GC families and in foster group homes. We’ll also bless the group home workers and local DCS offices. But we need your help.

You can give money, groceries, hygiene items, toys, pajamas, and so much more. Click the buttons below for more info on Chosen Christmas and to get the list of donations needed.

Change the world by changing the life of a child!

CHOSEN BACKPACK DRIVE

Every year, Generation Church comes together for the Chosen School Drive. In the greater Phoenix area, nearly 6,000 children are in foster care, but only about 1,370 licensed foster homes are available, creating significant challenges for foster families. This July, we have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus by providing school supplies to more than 500 children in over 45 foster homes, reminding them they are seen, chosen, and loved. You can make a difference by donating supplies, giving financially, or serving at the event. Visit the GC App or use the links below to get involved.

About Chosen Backpack Drive

Serving With Chosen

God Has Called You to Make a Difference

You can make a real difference in the life of a child in foster care by getting involved in this year’s Chosen School Drive. Whether you donate school supplies, give financially, or volunteer your time, your generosity helps provide essential resources and encouragement to children who need it most. Every backpack, notebook, and dollar given helps ease the burden on foster families and reminds these kids that they are seen, valued, and loved. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus and help hundreds of children start the school year with confidence and hope.

A group home is comprised children of various ages who’ve been removed from their homes. Group Home Volunteers go into the group home (after completing necessary paperwork and clearance) with the hope of building meaningful relationships and showing the love of Jesus. 2. Join our Chosen Facebook Group to stay up to date with current events and needs of Chosen. Also communicate and connect with those in Chosen ministry.
  3. Remember that these families have to carefully screen people who interact with their children.  It takes time to get to know you and to understand whether you’re a good fit for their kids’ specific needs.  Personal chemistry is important.  Please don’t be offended if they don’t invite you into their home to babysit or to do other activities directly with their kids.  There are lots of other ways you can help these families such as:
  • Coordinate help for specific requests. If they mention they need something, offer to take the lead in getting it done.
  • Become their Cheerleader.  Foster parenting can be a really hard job, so regular encouragement makes a big difference
  • Be their Spiritual Warrior.  Pray for them every day.  Give them biblical support.  Remind them that God is on their side.
  • Be an Advocate.  Make sure that all of their needs are being met.  If there are no solutions, bring it to the attention of the Chosen Leadership at Ch****@********on.church.
  • Be a Doer.  Run those errands.  Make those meals.  Buy those items.  Volunteer to babysit. Do whatever the family needs in the moment.

    4. Take the CHOSEN Trauma Training, when offered, to have a better understanding of the impact of trauma on kids and how to compassionately respond.

Be Jesus to a foster or adoption family.  Not all are called to be foster or adoption families.  Those who are need help and support because this is a really hard job.  You can help ensure a child has a family by providing loving support to those who are called.
